Scheduled Maintenance: Thursday April 15th, 2010 1am - 5am EST

BlueTie will be performing scheduled system maintenance on April 15th 2010 between 1:00AM and 5:00AM EST to address numerous bugs and tasks, as well as increase application performance, usability and anti-spam measures. Additionally, this maintenance will roll-out new features to the application’s compose message window.

There is no expected service outage during this maintenance window. During the window, users might experience a brief packet loss which will appear as a delay in the application of approximately 1-5 seconds if the user is refreshing their email at this time. BlueTie will be monitoring all systems throughout the maintenance window to ensure continued operation.

Please see complete details of the maintenance below:

New Features

Task #159297 - Replace rich text editor with CKEditor
This build will upgrade our new email compose window to have CKEditor instead of Rich Text Editor. This new editor will offer advanced composing and editing features and we are very excited to roll this out. Here are some of the CKEditor's enhancements:

  • Improved email compose experience (new, reply, forward, etc.)
  • Ctrl+V pasting in message body
  • Paste formatting improvements
  • Improved speed of "New Email" function
  • Faster spell check

Task #159448 - Change default Email Compose window to Popped Out
If you have been having issues with your compose message window loading slowly, we may have the solution with this new feature roll out. To maximize speed improvements, new emails can be popped in, similar to other functionality already in use (calendar reminders, preferences). We are very excited to introduce this new feature and are certain that it will create a better and quicker email experience.

Maintenance Items

Bug #149185 - Message won't open in IE if “From” header doesn't contain a properly formed display name.If
you’re using Internet Explorer, you may have experienced a situation where messages do not open if the ‘from’ header doesn’t contain a properly formed display name. We are not out to discriminate against display names. We believe that the world has moved past the dark days of email display name discrimination. Post build, all messages will open up in Internet Explorer no matter the display name.

Bug #153621 - Particular email attachments are not being parsed (show up as 0 bytes)
Imagine you downloaded the entire script of the 1986 Sci-Fi comedy blockbuster Short Circuit, with the intention of rewriting the film as a Broadway musical. You spent days tediously editing the script and writing heart-pumping song numbers and finally are ready to email the attached shortcircuitthemusical.pdf to your closest ‘nerds in arms’ for review. You click send and patiently await their jaw-dropped comments, only to find out that they were unable to open the document in their BlueTie accounts because the attachment was not parsed. Post build, all email attachments will be parsed and sent correctly. Good work, Johnny-Five!

Bug #154352 -Mailing lists cannot be created by bluetie.enterprise user; no domains listed
Some enterprise managers have been complaining that they are not able to select users’ domains to create mailing lists. Our build will address this issue so enterprise managers will have the power to create mailing lists with an appropriate user domain list.

Bug #156055 - Catch-all alias not showing up in Enterprise Manager
We’re addressing the issue of the missing “catch all alias” option for accounts in the Enterprise Manager. Post build, enterprise managers will be able to enable a catch-all alias in their accounts.

Bug #158507 - Max size of enterprise email footer is 1024 characters, but UI says it is 2000
We’ve promised users an email footer character limit of 2000 characters. We’re not saying you can fit the Declaration of Independence in your email footer, but 2000 characters is a pretty large number. So we understand the frustration some users have because their email footer has been limited to a size of 1024 characters. We’ll address this issue to ensure that email footers can be up to 2000 characters long, as promised.

Bug #159190 - When preview is empty, previously viewed email loads before current selection.
They say that a déjà-vu is a “glitch in the Matrix.” Not to get you worried, but some users have complained that when their email preview is empty, the previously viewed email loads before the current selection. But don’t start complaining to Morpheus yet, as this issue will be addressed in our build. No more message preview déjà-vu.

Bug #159301 - Uncheck All not clearing out selected rowsIt was our hope that checkboxes and mail selection would work together so that when you selected a message, if you clicked “Uncheck All” with your checkbox tool, the selected email would no longer be selected. However, some users have been complaining that these two features are not working together as they should. Post build, the two will work in perfect BlueTie email harmony.

Bug #159355 - Extended characters in the subject pop alert "The message you selected has been moved...”
If you sent your friend an email with the subject “Mötley Crü Tribute Band Concert Tix,” he may not have gotten this message. That is because some users have complained of an issue where emails with extended characters in the subject line are not able to be opened. But fear not, Dr. Feel-Good, we’ll address this issue during our build.

Task #154112 - Change Enterprise Button Labels

This task will change the Enterprise Manager experience to mention enterprise less.

Task #155766 - Allow "copy" of message headers

Some users have been requesting the power to copy and paste the complete text of message headers for the purposes of determining the validity of the sending email address. We’re in the mood to empower people, so we are going ahead with this request on this build.
